As a Business Administration and Marketing Major and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania I look to hold a career in the Marketing field. My journey to becoming a Marketing Major began in an interesting way about five years ago now. Always being a fan of motorsports I became close friends with Liam O’Donnell a driver at Monster Jam, the largest promoter of Monster Truck Shows in the world. At 15 I began going to off-road and Monster Jam events with him helping out and became friends with many people at Monster Jam. It is also important to note that Monster Jam is owned by FELD Entertainment which also owns Ringling Bros. Circus, Disney on Ice, and many other family oriented shows; so you can say it is a major company.
Below you can see myself and Liam O’Donnell, the Monster Jam driver who helped me get my foot into the door of FELD Entertainment.
Anyway, by going to these events I became with many different higher up’s in the company and got to know them really well. In 2014 I was offered a position in Monster Jam where I received the opportunity to travel the country and work on the production side of the events at just 17 years old. Over the three years I’ve held this position I realized what role marketing had to play in all of our events. It was all around us, how they sold tickets, marketed the trucks and athletes, advertised on television and radio, it was all marketing. Once I realized this I knew I wanted to go into the marketing field, especially after finding out the salary their marketing team makes.
So now I am currently studying marketing and continue to travel the country each weekend producing shows. Once I finish my degree in 2020, I plan on going full time with FELD Entertainment’s marketing department in Tampa, Florida. Be sure to stay tuned to my blogs to follow my journey!
